Dynamic Learning

The Crux123 Mission

Our mission is to get the best out of people, and we believe that education and training is key to that. But we need education and training for the world as it is, not as it was a century ago. Today’s world is dynamic - ever-changing, rapidly changing, changing in unpredictable ways. So we must be dynamic too.

We are living through an explosion of technological development, and social and political upheaval unlike anything witnessed since the Renaissance. While this brings many benefits, there are also great problems – the climate crisis, growing income disparity, global pandemics, the rise of extremist groups, wars, rising rates of depression and plummeting rates of happiness.

To solve the great problems of today, we need people who are strong, flexible, quick, resilient, committed, curious, creative, balanced, and energetic. In other words, we need people who are truly dynamic. And to be truly dynamic, we need to focus on three types of dynamism.

Dynamism: Physical/kinetic, Emotional/Expressive, Cognitive/Creative

Dynamic Learning

Physical/Kinetic Dynamism

It’s okay, you don’t need to be a super athlete to be physically dynamic. However, every action we take is a physical act. Being physically healthy and having the ability and confidence to move well improves everything we do - in the classroom, in the workplace, in life. Our training always involves physicalization and movement.

Emotional/Expressive Dynamism

To remain balanced, calm, and resilient under stress, we have to understand our emotions and how to control or leverage them. The ability to express feelings, ideas, and opinions without fear, and the capacity empathize with others is vital to our personal success, the success of our schools and businesses, and the success of our communities. Learning needs emotional engagement - whether that be low level anxiety caused by stepping out of your comfort zone, or the joy of achieving something challenging - to be truly effective.

Cognitive/Creative Dynamism

We need to be able to think in multiple ways to understand and solve the complex problems of today’s world. But thinking is useless without actions. Creativity is the application of innovative, multi-layered thinking, the willingness to make mistakes, the ability to make informed decisions quickly.

Background - Mike Thundercliffe

I’m an educator, trainer, and IAC certified coach, based in Tokyo. I have more than 20 years experience in the education and training industries. My purpose is to get the best out of people, and to help them do the great things only they can do.

I work across education from primary to corporate training because I believe it’s all linked - I can see the problems in the education sector in the difficulties people have in the corporate world. The system isn’t fit for people and it isn’t fit for purpose. Let’s change it.
